• Significant improvements on database engine with search performance and table partitioning.

• "Business Intelligence Semantic Model" (BISM) with all the OLAP features for relational data useful for providing required analytics. SSRS has been enhanced with "end user alerting" and more tight integration with SharePoint 2010.

Self-service BI has been promoted in SQL server 2012 under the project "PowerView". This focuses on the business users who want to easily create their own PowerView reports with ease of use in analysis. Advanced things like quick links between different report items and one click drill downs etc. are possible with PowerView without writing single line of code. Silverlight technology used in PowerView reports makes them look rich and the SSRS platform supports tight integration with SQL sources and SharePoint 2010.
